The Queen Joan I of Castile arrived at the Royal Palace of Tordesillas in 1509. Nowadays, this Palace does not exist, but she lived there for 46 years till her death in 1555.
During 2009, Tordesillas and history lovers celebrated 500 years of her arrival as a very special event.
From March 7, 2009 to March 7, 2010, several commemorative events took place to remember this important historical event.
The commemorative program included: conferences, street shows, musical evenings, theatre, film festival, games and sports of that time, urban routes and several exhibitions, among which the exhibition “Vestuario para una Reina” (“Costumes for a Queen”) was the most important one.
